News Release: Judi Krew Workshop
Artist Judi Krew will lead a free workshop, “The House of Hoard—A Collector’s Collection of Hoard Couture,” on Saturday, March 10, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the Massillon Museum. No reservations are required. The workshop is offered to complement the current fashion exhibition, Another Look at the New Look.
The instructor invites participants to bring a bin of saved “stuff” to use to create miniature dress sculptures during the session. Krew’s own creations from recycled materials will be on display in the Museum lobby from March 4 through March 10 to offer a preview of the workshop.
Krew holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in drawing and painting from the University of Akron and a master of arts degree in art education from Case Western Reserve University. Her paintings have garnered 30 awards in 118 regional and national juried exhibitions in 27 states. She has been included in a dozen invitational exhibitions in 8 states and has been the focus of 13 solo exhibitions, including the Massillon Museum’s Studio M.
Visitors on March 10 can visit the exhibition, Another Look at the New Look. Inspired by French designer Christian Dior’s 1947 debut collection, “The New Look,” Another Look examines Dior’s feminine silhouette from both a design and historical perspective. It features everyday clothing worn by the average American woman.
In addition to viewing Another Look at the New Look, workshop participants will be able to tour the Studio M exhibition, Chris Muller presents The Year of Chris; the new Massillon Tiger football exhibit, The Paul Brown Era; two Civil War displays; a photography exhibit about Massillon’s historic Fourth Street; and The Immel Circus. It’s also fun to take some silly pictures in the vintage photobooth and visit Oscar the Skeleton.
The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East (Ohio Route 172) in downtown Massillon. A visit to the Massillon Museum is always free. Free parking is available on adjacent streets and in nearby city streets. For more information, call the Museum at 330-833-4061 or visit massillonmuseum.org.
