Why I am Proud to Pledge Allegiance to Our Flag
I am proud to pledge allegiance to the flag because of what it symbolizes. To me it stands for the pride of America, our rights, and the soldiers who gave their lives to protect our freedom.
When I sing the “Star Spangled Banner,” I remember the story I heard about our flag. The man who wrote the song was captured in the War of 1812 by the enemy. Every time a bomb exploded, the prisoners could see the flag, and the soldiers fighting refused to let it fall and surrender. Once they lost their lives protecting the flag, more people came and defended it; they kept the flag up until we won. When the prisoners got out, Francis S. Key wrote the experience into a song. This is one of the reasons I personally am proud of the flag.
Another thing our flag represents is our freedoms, rights, and indivisibility as a country. We can have peace and happiness because of the brave troops fighting for America and Old Glory, and that is why I really am proud to pledge allegiance to the flag and America.
